What is ‘metabolism’?
In simple words, we can say that metabolism is the process of converting food into an energy form.
Why metabolism?
As already mentioned, metabolism breaks down food which gets converted into energy and then during some strenuous activities this energy gets used. So we need metabolism for energy. Also it is important for breathing and digestion.
Importance of metabolism
It is a very essential chemical process for our body. When you are resting, your body keeps on breaking the food to provide energy to your body. It’s functions are:
1.Breathing
2. Blood circulation
3. Digestion
4. Repairs and grows cells
5. Manages hormone levels
6. Regulates body temperature
Basal Metabolic Rate
Basal metabolic rate is the minimum number of calories your body needs while resting for the functions mentioned above. According to studies, BMR fulfils 60-70% of the energy your body uses. If you suddenly lose weight and restrict calories, affects your BMR which means it can decrease your BMR.
Can you stimulate your metabolism?
Don’t be so shocked after reading the question because yes, it is valid that you can stimulate your metabolism. It is obvious that when you change your diet plan or routine, then it affects your metabolism as well. So when you eat healthy food and exercise daily, your metabolic rate remains constant and you feel energised.
however, stimulating your metabolism can also have a bad effect on your body. We know, that whatever we do, we tend to experience good and bad things and here it is the same. Keep in mind that only this doesn’t affect your metabolic rate. When you are too stressed about something, it also affects your metabolism, so don’t always pile up things which make you stressed.
Let’s take one example, imagine that you have made up a diet plan for yourself and then you exercise daily. Would these things be enough for you? Yes, of course. Now add one more thing to it, you are following your routine but cannot sleep at night, isn’t it too annoying? Now would these things be enough for your metabolism to work well? No. Getting proper sleep is also very important for your body to be healthy.
How can you stimulate your metabolism?
How? Hoping for an answer, you must want a quick and short one. Not taking enough of your time, I will directly head onto it.
Studies say that any changes you make in your routine are temporary but if you want your metabolic rate to stimulate then you have to make changes permanent. Make some changes in that will remain unbreakable.
1. Your body composition
Naras Lapsys recommend that if you want to see some positive changes in your health then you must focus on your body composition. He also says that we should focus on our bodies and then work accordingly. We very well know that losing fat is somewhat easier than gaining muscles. So when we want to lose weight, we focus on our body and then start making some changes and follow our routine wisely and then only our metabolism act positively.
2. Different training methods
What do we usually do when we say exercise? walking or running. But when you want to gain muscles, walking or running won’t be enough for you. You should be lifting weights to gain muscles. Also, focus on your heart. Don’t you always find yourself in a situation where you cannot stop yourself from huffing and puffing and gasping for air? When you maintain your heart condition, it will be a permanent change for your body and like this, your metabolic rate also remains satisfactory.
3. Sleep
A body needs a proper amount of sleep no matter how stressed it is. Sleep deprivation is a major cause why you cannot see any positive change even when you are doing so much for your metabolism to remain constant and healthy. Make sure you take less stress and sleep properly.
