Fibre Foods: Side effects

Can fibre foods affect you in a bad way?

Yes, there are times when fibre-rich diets affect your body in a bad way. They not only are beneficial but also have side effects.

Fibre foods

The ideal dose of fibre is 25 grams for women and 38 grams for men. Scientists have found that at least half of the population cannot digest fibre easily. While some think that they are not getting a proper amount of fibre.

Too much fibre can cause:

  • Bloating
  • Abdominal pain
  • Loose stools or diarrhoea
  • Constipation
  • temporary weight gain
  • Inatestinal blockage
  • Reduced blood sugar

How can you overcome these situations?

Consuming too much of it can cause nausea, vomiting, loose stool, etc. For this, you can overcome this situation like this:

  • Drink more water
  • Avoid taking any fibre supplements
  • Avoid high-fibre foods
  • Eat a bland diet
  • Remove fibre foods from your diet
  • Look for foods that contain insulin
  • Do some exercise, like walking as soon as possible

Once you feel that you are okay or ready to consume it again you can take it slowly. Instead of eating fibre food as a meal, you can eat a little portion of it with three meals a day. Aim for a wide range of fibre foods rather than only one.
